Our Mission

To ensure the public trust by promoting professionalism and ethical practices within the public procurement community through education, certification and networking.

About NFPA

The North Florida Procurement Association (NFPA) Chapter of NIGP (National Institute of Government Purchasing) was founded April 2005 as the 87th NIGP chapter with 105 charter members and continues to remain a steady influence in the public-purchasing profession. Chapter membership is comprised of public agency procurement staff from across the northeast Florida region.

With over a million residents, northeast Florida is a solid area poised for growth. The area includes a diverse environment of natural and structured resources. NFPA, as one of those resources, is committed to assisting its members and member agencies in developing and implementing cost-saving opportunities through collaborative purchasing efforts, effective communication, and transparent procedures.

The NFPA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to the advancement of the purchasing profession through the education of its members and vendor community. Chapter membership is open to all public procurement professionals of any federal, state, city, county, and any other political subdivision of the state of Florida (such as institutions of higher learning, school districts, port authorities, police and fire departments, etc.) located in the northeast Florida region (an area that includes Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, Putnam and St. Johns counties). Also included are any full-time employees of any NIGP member agencies whose functions are related to contracting, purchasing, or the materials management functions.

Join Us

Even though you (or your agency) may already have a national membership in NIGP, chapter membership is separate. NIGP's network of affiliate chapters provides a gathering place for networking and problem solving at local and regional levels.

We hope to see you at a future meeting.

OUR GOALS

The NFPA is devoted to advancing the professional goals of its members through scholarships for training and higher education pursuits, thereby increasing their competency and professionalism, enhancing their value to their agency, and improving the quality of their professional life. The scholarship program was established to provide financial aid for courses, programs, and seminars related to public procurement, contracting, materials management, inventory control, specifications development, contract administration, contract negotiations and other related subjects.

The NFPA also provides training, professional networking, and preparation for certification through NIGP, which is nationally and internationally recognized. Many classes are offered at a discounted rate for chapter members.

The chapter meets regularly for a business meeting, networking lunch and a guest speaker speaking on topics relevant to public procurement. At the end of each year, the chapter hosts a membership appreciation meeting and elections.

Annually, member agencies arrange a chapter-sponsored reverse trade show where local and regional vendors have an exceptional opportunity to meet and network with public purchasing representatives from northeast Florida. Proceeds from the event are used to operate the chapter and to fund scholarships for members.

Additionally, the NFPA gathers and publishes contractual and related information on formally procured contracts awarded by member agencies that allow participation by other public agencies. This provides an opportunity to save money by purchasing goods and services from a variety of vendors.

Please check under Upcoming Events listings for training opportunities. If you or your agency has specific training needs please contact our Education Committee Chair for assistance in meeting those needs.
